Telra is brimming with excitement and events as we finish out the year! Keep reading for all the latest updates. Highlights of the week ahead - Monday, 4/22 - Earth Day - Kindergarten Clean Up Project - Wednesday, 4/24 - Paint the Blacktop Project - Thursday, 4/25 - Cultural Dress Day & Culture Fair (and Telra Spirit Day) - Friday 4/26 - All Pro Dads 7-8am (Topic is “forgiveness”, reminder to check email for QR code to RSVP, followed by Coffee with the Leadership, 8:30-9am. Spirit Day has been shifted to Thursday to coincide with our Cultural Dress Day. In this issue

 

URGENT - Paint the Blacktop Project - We need your help!

Wednesday 4/24 - we will be undertaking our Paint the Blacktop project to make this recess space more engaging for our students and WE NEED HELP! If you can spare some time to assist (even for a couple of hours) with painting our bus lot area on Wednesday - please sign up below: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F49ABA82EABFEC25-49069070-paintaplayground#/ This activity is also be open to our middle school students (6th-8th Grade only) to volunteer! Cultural Dress Day & Culture Fair, April 25th, 5-7pm

On Thursday, April 25th, students are invited to attend school wearing attire reflecting their cultural heritage or don the colors of their flag (students may also wear their regular uniform or spirit wear) in anticipation of the inaugural Telra Culture Fair later in the evening! Tour the world (or the Telra gym) and visit the booths representing different countries from around the world with displays of cultural items, clothing, snacks, art, games and other learning opportunities. Stay for dinner and a show - grab food from one of the many food trucks and enjoy performances from some of our students! We hope to see you there! Spring Book Fair, April 29th - May 3rd

Scholastic will bring their Book Fair back to Telra in 10 days time! Students will have opportunities during the week to shop the Fair and stock up on summer reading material. A full class shopping schedule and volunteer sign up will come out next week, but mark your calendars now!

Art Walk and Craft Fair, May 2nd, 5-7pm

Join us for our first ever Art Walk, where you'll have the opportunity to stroll the halls of Telra and explore the incredible artwork our students have created throughout the year in art class. After that, come and browse the Craft Fair where our 4th-8th grade students will be showcasing their creativity and design thinking skills by displaying handmade crafts they're passionate about! The Book Fair will also be open for family shopping and there will be food trucks to grab dinner from in the bus lot - so come and spend an arty evening with your family and friends here at Telra.

 

Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6th - 10th

The Family Council and Telra Administration have been busy organising a fantastic teacher appreciation week for our teachers and staff here at Telra! Trailblazers Outdoor Club - get involved!

Have a love for the outdoors and want to share that with our students? Telra has been awarded a grant to help kickstart a Trailblazers outdoor club for our grade 6-9 students next year. We're looking for a couple of parent volunteers who would like to lead the club and organize some hikes and camping events around the area. Please email ronak@telra.org if interested! After school Percussion Club, Spring session for 5th & 6th Graders

Our Spring session of the Percussion Club still has space for 5th & 6th Grade students interested in learning the fundamentals of rhythm, timing, dynamics, and groove. Students will be playing percussion instruments like bass drums, xylophones, snare drums, crash cymbals, marimba and vibraphone and more. Grade Levels: 5th & 6th Grade students Days: Wednesdays

Starting date: 4/17/2024 - 5/22/2024

Time: 3:45 - 4:45pm
